Derek opened Black Orchid Tattoo Studio after 16 years of tattooing in his home state of Florida. His dream was to create a space that showcased his lifelong commitment to his craft, and to give his clients an inspiring and comfortable place to collaborate on beautiful artwork. He is most known for his bold and colorful nature inspired designs. From delicate florals to breathtaking landscapes and animal portraits, his attention to detail is second to none. Bright, illustrative flowers are his specialty, but he is also a huge fan of pointillism (dotwork), traditional, and neotraditional styles. Aimee is the other half of our Black Orchid Tattoo Studio team and our resident interior designer and creative director. She is Derek’s first apprentice and has only been tattooing for 3 years, but what she lacks in experience is made up for in natural talent and a genuine eagerness to excel in her craft. As you can see from her portfolio Aimee is a well rounded artist, proficient in styles from traditional, illustrative, to realism, and everything in between. She is excited to explore all styles of tattooing but has a passion for black and grey illustrated tattoos and portraits.
